About Dr. Satz

Julie Satz, Psy.D.

Dr. Satz received her undergraduate degree from The University of Michigan and completed her Psy.D. at Yeshiva University, Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. She served as Senior Psychologist and Director at the Queens Hospital Center’s Adolescent Day Treatment Program, at Jewish Child Care Association-Foster Care Division, and at The Mount Sinai West Transitional Day Treatment Program (formerly St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital). She completed Intensive Training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) during her employment at Roosevelt Hospital where she led DBT oriented skills and therapeutic groups. She supervises licensed clinicians, psychology interns, and psychiatry residents.

Areas of Specialization and Approach

Dr. Satz works with children, teens, adults, and couples seeking help with a broad range of issues and at various life stages. She consults with parents needing training and coaching when living with a dysregulated child; she also works closely with adolescents in high school and heading toward college, as well as young adults establishing independent living. Her approach is engaged, authentic, and accessible, offering phone coaching between sessions to generalize new skills and to provide requested extra help.

Beyond her foundational Intensive DBT training in 2002, she continues to broaden her her clinical skills with regular professional training and development such as: DBT for Families, DBT-C, (DBT for Children), DBT-PE (Prolonged Exposure for PTSD), and DBT with Family-Based Treatment for Eating Disorders. She also participates in weekly peer support Consultation Team meetings, a required component of adherence to DBT.

She frequently collaborates with other clinical providers and can refer for additional evaluations or alternate levels of care if needed.
